The Map
19 territories arranged in a hex grid, plus 2 castles facing each other. Every territory starts neutral โ
on turn 1, each team can claim one of the territories bordering their castle.
Turns
Teams alternate turns. 1 turn = 1 action = 1 attempt โ either claiming a neutral
territory, attacking an enemy one, or besieging a castle. There are no retries within a turn.
Claiming Territory
Choose a neutral territory next to your own land, answer a random question. Succeed and it's yours. Fail
and it's locked for one turn before anyone can try again.
Battles
Attack an enemy territory next to yours. A spin decides the question type โ Grammar, Vocabulary,
Listening, or Quick Battle. Attacker and defender each answer their own question
of that type. Whoever answers correctly (or faster, if both succeed) wins the territory. If both fail, the
territory becomes neutral. A very fast, correct defense can trigger a counter-attack that neutralizes the
attacker's staging territory.
Sieges
Once you hold a territory next to an enemy castle, you can besiege it. Each castle has 3 towers โ
Outer Wall โ Inner Keep โ Throne Room โ that must fall in that order. Each tower takes
2 successful hits to destroy. Sieges follow the same attack/defense format as battles.
Winning
Instant win: destroy all 3 towers of the enemy castle.
Time win: when
the Game Timer runs out, whoever holds more territory wins. A tie is settled by a Sudden Death round.
Timers
The Game Timer is the total match length, set before you start. The Challenge
Timer is the time limit for each individual question, and varies by question type.
